The Continuity Movement

The Continuity Movement which promotes a deeper understanding of the Catholic Church in the development of the history and culture of many countries around the world, was founded in England in 1999, after the Path to Rome conference in Birmingham, England. It is officially called The Continuity Movement in the British Isles, which takes in England, Wales, Scotland, Ireland and Northern Ireland.

A vast majority of those living in the British Isles are oblivious of just how much the Catholic Church did to develop each of those cultures over the last 2000 years. Continuity seeks to right that imbalance through a monthly journal, conferences, prayer and Holy Hour reunions, and personal visits to schools and parishes. The Rt. Rev. and Rt. Hon. Mgr. Graham Leonard, the former Anglican bishop of London is the president of the Continuity Movement around the world. Mgr. Leonard is the highest ranking prelate in the history of the Church of England to to enter the Catholic Church since the inception of the Church of England in the mid-1500's.

The Movement is now in Austria and the United States as well, producing journals and engaging in the same activities as in the British Isles. Continuity members are members of Miles Jesu, though not usually as fully committed as Vinculum members. They can, however, become Vinculum members by petitioning Father General. All Continuity members are members of Miles Jesu, but not all Vinculum members are members of the Continuity Movement. All of the members pray for each other daily, and meet together regularly whenever possible.
